  • Child Development

    Students learn the way heredity, the environment, and current medical trends affect conception and prenatal development. Students become knowledgeable about the value of play and recreation, health and safety issues, and positive guidance and discipline techniques.

  • Foods

    Although you've had years of experience eating food, do you really know enough about food and nutrition? This course helps students understand how to be healthy now and in the future through nutritional knowledge and choices. Students learn food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment and design, meal service and etiquette, health and fitness.

  • Life Management

    Get your life together! Seize the opportunity to learn "real life lessons," relate to family and friends, and face the future with confidence and security. Be prepared for "living" in the 21st Century and learn about "earning a living" in careers related to several of California's key industries. Students learn critical skills and knowledge in food and nutrition, family living and parenting, child development, fashion, and consumer education. This exciting class provides students with many tools to make the road to adulthood easier.

    This course includes a study of the following units: Abnormal Behavior, Personality and Its Development, Mental and Emotional Health, Intelligence and Thinking, Learning, Memory, and Sleep and Dreaming. This is an elective course and does not meet Social Studies graduation requirements.

  • Strategic Intervention Math

    Placement based on teacher recommendation/multiple assessments.

    This course is designed to enrich/support students in Integrated Math 1 and Integrated Math 2. Students will learn strategies to improve math skills along with becoming more effective math problem solvers. This class provides extra support and strategies for students to increase their math proficiency by targeting the specific needs of each learner. The class also prepares students for the standardized test (CAASPP).

  • Teacher's Aide

    The teacher’s aide is assigned to a supervisory teacher as a clerical assistant and is expected to perform typing, duplicating, filing, and recording tasks related to the instructional duties of the teacher. Must have counselor and teacher approval to enroll in this class. Credits earned with Pass/Fail only.
