Attendance

TUSD Shows Up!

We are excited to announce the launch of our 2024-2025 attendance campaign—TUSD Shows Up! This campaign promotes the importance of good school attendance all year long. We know the importance of daily attendance and its lasting, life-long benefits and implications. We care about each one of our students, and when they are at school each day, we know they are healthy, safe, and learning. However, when students are not in school, they are falling behind. Chronic absenteeism impacts all students—no matter their age.

Attendance can be a signal that a student needs support. Students might be absent because of:

  • struggles with school subjects
  • school climate
  • health conditions
  • anxiety
  • transportation
  • caring for family members

We are here to support students, their families, and our community in ensuring every student can attend school every day. Here are just a few ways we do that here in TUSD:

Child Nutrition: TUSD offers FREE breakfast and lunch to all TUSD students. Learn more at the TUSD Child Nutrition website.

Counseling: All schools have counselors and clinicians who can assist with mental health and wellness support for students.

Family Resource Center: The TUSD Family Resource Center provides resources, programs and services to support our diverse families. Learn more at the Family Resource Center website.

Health: Our TUSD Health Techs, School Nurses, and LVN’s are here to support your student’s health and wellness. There are times when students need to miss school due to illness and our TUSD health staff are excellent resources who can help advise parents on when their student should stay home and when they should come to school.

Student Services: Provides support to students and families including our special populations (i.e., foster, homeless, and refugees.)

Transportation: TUSD may provide transportation to those students not living within reasonable walking/parent transport distance from school. Learn more by visiting Transportation Eligibility.
